Jack's Landing RV, Grants Pass, OR

Jack's Landing RV Park

247 NE Morgan Ln
Grants Pass, OR 97528
866-rv-Jacks
Jack's Landing RV gets 2 thumbs up because of its ease of access and the nice paved sites. Spaces are adequate width with plenty of room to pull through a 37' rig and leave the tow dolly attached. The car even fit in the front. There are many who obviously live there full time but are quiet and friendly. The park is right on Interstate 5 and I mean right next to it. The truck and car noise bothered me. This was a good, level, paved place to stay while waiting for RV maintanence at Henderson's Line Up, to visit Crater Lake (2.5 hrs away) or to take the Hellgate Jet Boat Excursion down the Rouge River What a treat, including a wonderful barbecue dinner.

Flying Flags RV Resort-Buellton, CA

Flying Flags RV Resort

180 Avenue of Flags
Buellton, CA 93427
877-240-1244
The Flying Flags RV Resort gets 3 thumbs up because of the location and amenities on site. They have a nice pool, spa and fitness center. They have a full camp store and nice laundry room. The sites are narrow and short. Our 37' class A barely fit with room to park my small car sideways in front of the rig. There are trees on the sites which is a plus in my book. The hook-ups are new and water pressure is great. Most sites are gravel with a small side concrete patio. They offer premium sites with concrete pads but they are as small as the others and are not worth the extra money. We did get a night free because we stayed during the week. This RV resort is right next to the Windmill Days Inn which was the hotel in which Miles and Jack stayed in the movie Sideways. The wineries and the picturesque city of Solvang are very close. I would recommend the Flying Flags Resort if you are planning to tour the Central Valley wineries or loved the movie as we did.

Rancho CA Outdoor Resorts of America

Rancho CA Outdoor Resorts

45525 Hwy 79 South
Aguanga, CA 92536
951-767-0848
Outdoor Resorts of America does it again! We started out at the OR of Am in Hilton Head and Rancho CA does not disappoint. The grounds are lush and comfortable with spectacular views of the mountains surrounding the resort. Staff is friendly. All sites are level and paved, most of which are privately owned. There are some still for sale at reasonable prices. There is a 14 hole Championship golf course through the middle of the resort. There are 3 pools and laundry facilities. A cafe' and store are on site. Many activities are provided for residents and renters. Aguanga is located in the Temecula Valley, outside of San Diego. It is the up and coming wine producing region in CA and there are many wineries in the area. I highly recommend this or any of the Outdoor Resorts of America sites and look forward to visiting the next site on our list on the Oregon coast.

Grand Canyon Railway RV Park

The Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in Williams, AZ is a decent place to call you homebase as you tour the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Flagstaff and the surrounding area. It is conveniently located right off of I40 and the historic Route 66 runs right through town. The GCRRV Park is completely paved with fairly level sites. There are full hook-up and all the amenities of the Grand Canyon Hotel are also for your use. There is breakfast buffets and 2 restaurants on site of the hotel (which is adjacent to the RV park.) The train depot is also on site which conducts rides to the Grand Canyon for $70 round trip coach. The RV park is lacking in trees (newly planted) but has magnificent views of the surrounding mountains which are full of conifers. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would return, rates are very reasonable.

KOA Central Albuquerque, NM

The KOA Central in Albuquerque is a very convenient place to stay if you want to be close to central Albuquerque. The staff is friendly and helpful. The sites are undergoing upgrades, most all have 50 amps and most are pull-through for big rigs. Sites are paved, though in need of repair. Surprisingly, our site was completely level, we didn't need our jacks to level. Their camp store is pretty well stocked but a Wal-Mart is within 5 mi. We stayed the week before the FMCA convention and it was packed with big-rigs. The water pressure was fantastic and the electrical service fine. There is a view of the Sandia Mts. if you are not right next to the freeway wall. It is located right off of 40. Note: it snowed twice the week of March 12-22, 12" in the mts but less than 1" in town.

Carlsbad KOA, NM

The KOA in Carlsbad, NM boasts "the best in the state". The staff is very friendly and the sites are large pull-throughs and very level. There are cabins for those who do not have an RV. The camp store is the best stocked I have seen. They also have a restaurant on site that serves delicious food. It is rather pricey. This site is 17 mi north of the town of Carlsbad and the Caverns are 23 mi south. It was about a 50 min drive. Carlsbad Caverns National Park is well worth the stop. They show the amazing way the earth took shape.

Visit my website and read about all places we have visited since November.

Fort Stockton RV Park, TX

The Fort Stockton RV Park in Texas is right off of I10, perfect for an overnight stay. They are extremely friendly and have a Roadrunner Cafe on site that serves dinner and breakfast daily. It was delicious. They also serve beer and wine and sell the local wine in the camp store. They do not offer cable TV but have a slow WiFi. I recommend a stay here if it is not for a long time since there is not a lot to do in the area. Wind storms can be miserable, dust flying everywhere!

Camping World New Braunfels, TX

OK, we have been at the Camping World in New Braunfels, TX now for over a week waiting for parts. Even though they are very gracious and the space for our RV is free, I am getting very stir crazy and ready to hit the road. The outlet shopping in San Marcos is great and the parks in the area are also very nice but enough is enough!

Iron Horse Grill New Braunfels, TX

Wow, the IronHorse Grill in New Braunfels, TX was voted the best burger in 2009 and rightly so. This was the best burger I have ever had, and we know our burgers. I definitely recommend a visit while passing through or staying in the New Braunfels area. It is right off of I35 on business 35, behind the IHop.

River RanchRV Resort

River Ranch RV Resort in New Braunfels, TX has its plus side. If you have a site on the Guadalupe River, it is a very pleasant setting. There is an abundance of wildlife along the river and the scene is serene. The sites are somewhat small but our 37' rig fit fine with room for our tow car along side the rig. We were on the "curve" so our site was a little bit wider than the sites in the middle. It is small, offers full hook-ups with cable and wifi included. They have laundry and showers. There is ample shopping as it is right on I35, and I mean right on it, or should I say below. Business 35 and I35 are on either side of the site, raised on bridges. The traffice noise is great but when in the rig, somewhat muffled. The best thing is this price. If you pay for a week, it averages to around $27.00 per night. There is a Camping World and Evergreen RV close buy if you need some work done on your rig. That is what brought us to this site, waiting for parts to be delivered. I would return if passing through.

Admiralty RV Resort

Admiralty RV Resort in San Antonio, TX was pleasant. They are a full service park with many long-term residents. They have all kinds of activities through-out the month, breakfasts served on Saturdays. The park is paved with the sites being very level. They have full hook-ups. The sites are narrow and only long enough for a large rig and a small car. The park is located right across from Sea World and a short drive to the River Walk in downtown. Visit San Antonio to see the River Walk, the Alamo, and the missions. They are fantastic. I would return to this site.

Punkin Park Camping

Punkin Park in Hammond, LA was a muddy mess. I realize they had more rain than usual but it doesn't drain very well. The sites are small for big rigs. They had a few pull-throughs which made it a little easier but it was so muddy, it still was not pleasant. Nothing in the park is paved. They had full hook-ups. We were also under electric high wires and next to many construction trucks that were parked in the middle of the park. We stayed because it was close to relatives we were visiting but I would not return. The only good thing was with my husbands 60+ discount, it was only $26 per night.

Salon Baliage and Spa

If you are in the Panama City Beach area looking for a place to have your hair or nails done, the Salon Baliage and Spa is wonderful! The owner will cut and color your hair with expertise and an eye for style. She also cut my husband's hair. The atmosphere is spa-like and relaxing. They also offer massages, hot stone pedicures and everything in between. It was so nice to feel confidant when going to a new hair stylist while "on the road".

Kindle is priceless when full-timing in an RV!

My husband and I purchased Kindles from Amazon.com for our year of full-timing in an RV. What a great decision. All books are downloaded instantly and are cheaper than purchasing the actual book.  My husband also subscribes to the Washington Post, his favorite paper that he can't get outside of the DC area!

Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort, Panama City Beach, FL

Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort in Panama City BEACH, FL is wonderful! The sites are sufficiently large enough for big rigs. They are paved and perfectly level. There are full hook-ups but cable and wifi are an extra charge per day. There are palm and pine trees planted between each site. There are 2 ponds on one side with walking paths. The pool area is great with a jacuzzi and fire pit. The staff is wonderful. Breakfast is served on Sat and Sun for $5 and there is a dinner served every other Thursday. The location is perfect. The beach is less than a mile away. Shopping is abundant with the Pier Park "beach" mall close by. Most all eating establishments are close, including local specialties. Several spa services are in the area, RV services, and more shopping within the 10 mi drive to Panama City. The beaches are crystal white sand and emerald green gulf waters. Easy beach parking is available. This resort gets 4 thumbs up from me, we have even extended our stay a week!

Florida Gateway RV Resort, Jasper, FL

Websites can be deceiving! This looks like it is an established site, even though it does say "new". You are basically parked in a large field of grass. The "resort" is surrounded by a row of trees. The owners are just establishing the place but it has a long way to go. It has potential, with plans to build a canal around the perimeter for canoeing. It has a nice pool, sand volleyball court and somewhat new but small putt-putt area. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. There is no cable but they do offer a Direct TV box if you can hook it up to your TV. We were the only ones staying in the place and it felt very isolated. There is little shopping, even 20 mi south in Lake City, FL. The worst part was the 1.3 mi unpaved road to reach the site. Not good if you have just spent money to have your RV washed and waxed or if you get a downpour like we did. It turned into sandy "mud" that was caked all over our rig and tow car. I hope the owners can continue to improve the site and make it successful, they were so nice. I would not return.

Lazydays/Rally Park, Seffner, FL

Rally Park is the RV resort affiliated with Lazydays RV Park outside of Tampa, FL. Lazydays offers everything an RV owner could want. RV sales, seminars, workshops, rally sites, and a driver's confidence course free with stay at the park, which I would highly recommend. There is a Camping World and Cracker Barrel on site. The sites at Rally Park are very small, only feet between coaches in the back and vehicle parking is basically on the street in front of your rig. The sites are not why you are here, it is all the extras for RVers that are offered. Breakfast and lunch are free with your stay, in the very pleasantly tropical cafeteria. There is also free cable and wifi. If you purchase an RV from Lazydays, you are invited twice a year to return for a rally. If you buy an expensive rig, you become a member of the Crown Club and have larger sites an more amenities at your service.
I recommend everyone who owns an RV to visit Lazydays at least once in their life!

Juno Ocean Walk RV Resort , Juno Beach, FL

Juno Ocean Walk RV Resort in FL was a very pleasant place to stay. The sites are narrow but sufficient for Class A motor-homes. There are full hook-ups, cable and wifi included. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Juno Beach is beautiful and a short walk from the resort. It is located near all kinds of shopping and things to do. I give Juno 3 thumbs up for all that is offered.

Lake Okeechobee Outpost FL

You are definitely on Lake Okeechobee at this location. Sites are right on the lake, parking on grass. There are full hook-ups but no cable or wifi available. If you want to relax away from the bustle of city life and shopping, this may be the place for you. It was a little secluded for us. It is also very hard to find, no signs directing you, and if you are in a big rig, a little hard to navigate. This location only gets 1 thumb up from me but rates are very reasonable!

Hilton Head Island Motorcoach Resort

Wow, what a nice location for Class A motor-homes. Each site is large and beautifully landscaped. There are full hook-ups, pool, tennis courts on site, and bike trails through-out the island. I give this resort 4 thumbs up in every aspect for comfortable living in an RV!
